The anchor of the Knicks' championship teams — one of the finest two-way forwards in NBA history.
David Albert DeBusschere was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1940. He also pitched for the Chicago White Sox in baseball (1962-63). He won two NBA championships with New York. He was named to the All-Defensive Team six times — one of the finest individual defenders of his era at forward. He became the NBA's youngest head coach at 24 (Detroit Pistons, 1964). He was traded to New York in 1968 — a trade considered the defining moment of the Knicks' championship era.
