Daryl Gurney was born in Derry, Northern Ireland on 18 June 1982. He turned professional on the PDC circuit and became one of Northern Ireland's most successful sporting exports, winning the UK Open and the World Grand Prix in 2017 and reaching the world's top ten. His passionate celebrations and obvious love of competing at the sport's biggest events made him a crowd favourite. He represented Northern Ireland at the World Cup of Darts alongside Michael Smith, and the pairing were one of the tournament's more competitive partnerships.
