Six-time Stanley Cup champion and the engine of the Islanders dynasty — Calder, Hart, Smythe and Art Ross winner.
Bryan John Trottier was born in Val Marie, Saskatchewan in 1956. New York Islanders selected him 22nd overall in the 1974 NHL Draft. His 18-season career produced 524 goals, 901 assists and 1,425 points. He won six Stanley Cup championships — four with the Islanders (1980, 1981, 1982, 1983) and two with the Pittsburgh Penguins (1991, 1992). He won the Calder Trophy as best rookie in 1976, the Hart Trophy as MVP in 1979, the Art Ross Trophy as scoring champion in 1979 and the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP in 1980. He was the centrepiece of the Islanders dynasty — the player who connected Mike Bossy's goal-scoring with Denis Potvin's blue-line talent to produce one of hockey's most dominant machines. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1997 and named one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players in 2017. He became a head coach after his playing career and subsequently an assistant coach with multiple franchises. His six Stanley Cup championships represent the most by any centre in the post-Original Six era.
