Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes was born in Maia, Portugal on 8 September 1994. He began his career at Novara in Italy before moving to Udinese and then Sporting CP, where he became captain and won the Primeira Liga in 2021. Manchester United signed him in January 2020 for an initial £47 million and he made an immediate impact, winning four consecutive Player of the Month awards. Known for his vision, set-piece delivery, long-range shooting and relentless work rate, Fernandes was named United captain in 2023. He won the League Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024. For Portugal, he has earned over 60 caps and was part of the squad at Euro 2020, the 2022 World Cup and Euro 2024.
