Aaron James Judge was born in Linden, California in 1992. He was adopted at birth by his parents Patty and Wayne Judge — teachers in Linden. At 6ft 7in and 282 lbs he is the largest right fielder to play at an elite level in MLB history. The New York Yankees selected him 32nd overall in the 2013 MLB Draft. His 2017 debut season produced 52 home runs and the AL Rookie of the Year award in a season that generated enormous excitement around his power and athleticism. He won the 2022 AL MVP unanimously — hitting 62 home runs, surpassing Roger Maris's AL record of 61 set in 1961. He hit .311 with an OPS of 1.111 in the same season. He declined a $213.5 million seven-year extension from the Yankees before the 2022 season — betting on himself to outperform it — and re-signed for $360 million over nine years after his record season. He became the Yankees' captain in 2022 — the first since Derek Jeter. He led the Yankees to the 2024 World Series, losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers. His combination of power, on-base ability and exceptional outfield play make him the most complete power hitter in the AL.
