American IndyCar Series driver who became the youngest race winner in series history at age 19, known for his aggressive driving style and road course expertise

Colton Thomas Herta was born on 30 March 2000 in Valencia, Santa Clarita, California, the son of Bryan Herta, a former IndyCar and Champ Car race winner, and grew up immersed in the sport, beginning karting at ten before progressing through European and American junior single-seater categories. Herta made his IndyCar Series debut in 2018 with Harding Racing, and delivered a historic breakthrough in only his third career start, winning the 2019 IndyCar Classic at Circuit of the Americas at 18 years and 359 days old, becoming the youngest race winner in the series' history — a record that still stands. Herta joined Andretti Autosport in 2020, and continued to be one of the most exciting young talents in American open-wheel racing, winning nine IndyCar races across his career, including multiple victories at Laguna Seca, and finishing runner-up in the 2024 championship standings. Herta also built a strong sports car racing résumé, winning his class at the Rolex 24 at Daytona twice, in 2019 and 2021, and overall at the 2024 12 Hours of Sebring. He left IndyCar after the 2025 season to become the official test driver for the new Cadillac Formula One team, competing in Formula 2 in 2026 as he pursues his ambition of racing in Formula One.
