The Flat Out Bull — the 1995 WRC champion and the most spectacular driver of his era.
Colin Steele McRae was born in Lanark, Scotland in 1968. He won the 1995 World Rally Championship — the first British and first Subaru champion. His driving style — sideways, flat-out, spectacular — made him the most entertaining driver in WRC history despite not always being the most consistent. He won 25 WRC rallies. His name lives on in the Colin McRae Rally video game franchise (later DiRT), which became one of the most successful racing game series in history. He died in a helicopter crash in September 2007 aged 39, alongside his son Johnny and two family friends. His legacy in rally driving remains enormous.
