William Clyde Elliott II was born on 28 November 1995 in Dawsonville, Georgia, the son of NASCAR Hall of Famer Bill Elliott, and began racing at a young age, winning the 2014 Nationwide Series championship before joining the Cup Series full-time. Elliott set numerous youngest-winner records early in his Cup career, including the youngest driver to win a road course race and the youngest to win at both Dover and Kansas Speedway, driving the iconic No. 9 car for Hendrick Motorsports. Elliott won the NASCAR Cup Series championship in 2020, defeating Brandon Jones in a season-ending shootout at Phoenix Raceway, and has continued to be one of the sport's most popular drivers, winning the Cup Series Most Popular Driver Award on multiple occasions. Elliott has continued competing for Hendrick Motorsports, adding further victories including a third career win in the Duel at Daytona in 2026, and remains one of the most recognisable young stars in NASCAR, continuing his family's racing legacy first established by his father's championship-winning career.
