Pittsburgh's national champion and Heisman winner — the all-time NCAA rushing record holder for decades.

Anthony Drew Dorsett was born in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania in 1954. He attended the University of Pittsburgh and won the Heisman Trophy in 1976 after leading the Panthers to an undefeated national championship. He was a three-time consensus All-American. He accumulated 6,082 career rushing yards — the all-time NCAA record at his graduation, standing until Herschel Walker and later Ricky Williams surpassed it. He scored 59 touchdowns. His 1976 Heisman season produced 1,948 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns as part of a perfect 12-0 championship campaign. Dallas Cowboys selected him second overall in the 1977 NFL Draft and traded away a significant package of picks to move up. His professional career produced 12,739 rushing yards, Super Bowl victories in 1978 and 1993 — the latter as a personnel executive — and a 99-yard touchdown run against Minnesota in 1983 that remains the longest run from scrimmage in NFL history. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1994. His Pittsburgh career launched one of the most celebrated running back careers in NFL history.
