Washington's all-time leading receiver — one of the NFL's most prolific and underappreciated receivers.
Art Monk was born in White Plains, New York in 1957. Washington selected him 18th overall in 1980. He set the then-NFL record for single-season receptions in 1984 with 106. He won three Super Bowls with Washington. His 940 career receptions placed him second on the all-time list when he retired. He was notoriously quiet and reserved — the opposite of the era's flashier receivers. He waited eight years for Hall of Fame induction — a controversial delay many attributed to his low media profile.
