Lucas Raymond is a Swedish forward who has developed into one of the Detroit Red Wings' top offensive players since being drafted 4th overall in 2020.
Lucas Axel Louis Raymond was born on 28 March 2002 in Gothenburg, Sweden, and made his Swedish Hockey League debut with Frölunda HC on 4 October 2018, becoming the first player born in 2002 to appear in the league before scoring his first professional goal at just 16. The Detroit Red Wings selected Raymond fourth overall in the 2020 NHL Draft, and he signed with the organisation the following year, making the opening night roster for the 2021-22 season and scoring his first NHL goal that October. Raymond developed rapidly into one of the Red Wings' most important offensive players, renowned for his exceptional hockey sense, vision, and two-way reliability, and was named an alternate captain as part of the team's young core. Raymond has continued to represent Sweden internationally and remains a central figure in Detroit's rebuilding efforts, regarded as one of the most well-rounded and complete young wingers to emerge from Swedish hockey in recent years.
