Macklin Richard Celebrini was born on 13 June 2006 in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, to Robyn and Rick Celebrini, a former professional soccer player for the Vancouver 86ers who later became director of sports medicine and performance for the NBA's Golden State Warriors. Celebrini recorded 141 points in just 50 games for Shattuck-St. Mary's Under-14 team during the 2020-21 season, an extraordinary rate of production that marked him as a generational prospect from a young age. Celebrini played college hockey at Boston University alongside his older brother, Aiden, before the San Jose Sharks selected him first overall in the 2024 NHL Draft, and he quickly became the franchise's cornerstone player and an alternate captain. Celebrini represented Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics, becoming the youngest NHL player ever to compete at the Games, and signed a five-year contract extension worth $18.8 million annually in 2026, making him the highest-paid player in NHL history at the time.
