Sweet Lou — three-time Sixth Man of the Year and the most prolific bench scorer in NBA history.
Louis Williams was born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1986. Philadelphia 76ers selected him in the second round of the 2005 NBA Draft directly from high school. His 17-season career produced 13.9 points per game and three Sixth Man of the Year awards — the most in NBA history. He scored 14,987 career points — the most ever by a player coming primarily off the bench. His three-point shooting, ability to draw fouls and mid-range creation made him the most dangerous bench scorer of his generation. He scored 50 or more points in a game on two occasions. He averaged 20.4 points for the Clippers in 2018-19 — one of the finest bench scoring seasons in NBA history. His ability to be the best player on the court for 25 minutes per game — consistently performing in fourth quarters regardless of opponent — established him as the gold standard for the bench scoring role. He retired in 2022 as the most prolific scorer in NBA history from the reserve position.
