Henrik Stenson is a Swedish golfer famed for his record-setting 2016 Open Championship win over Phil Mickelson.

Henrik Olof Stenson was born on 5 April 1976 in Gothenburg, Sweden, and played badminton and football as a child before taking up golf in his teenage years, quickly becoming a scratch player and winning the Italian Open Amateur Match Play at just 20. Stenson turned professional in 1998, and became the first player in history to win both the European Tour's Race to Dubai and the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup in the same season, achieving the double in 2013 after winning both season-ending events. Stenson delivered the finest performance of his career at the 2016 Open Championship at Royal Troon, engaging in what many consider one of the greatest head-to-head duels in golf history against Phil Mickelson, closing with a final-round 63 to post the lowest winning total in major championship history and become the first Swedish man ever to win a major. Stenson won a silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics, and later joined the LIV Golf League in 2022, continuing to compete internationally as Sweden's greatest-ever male golfer, having represented Europe in five Ryder Cups.
