The Great White Shark — two Open Championships and the greatest collection of near-misses in major history.
Greg John Norman was born in Mount Isa, Queensland in 1955. He held the world number one ranking for 331 weeks. He won two Open Championships and 91 professional victories worldwide. He is better known for his losses in majors — the 1986 Masters, 1987 Masters, 1989 British Open and above all the 1996 Masters, where he led by 6 shots going into the final round and shot 78 to finish 5 behind Nick Faldo. His 1996 Masters collapse is the most discussed individual late-round failure in golf history. He later became the CEO of LIV Golf.
