Welsh rally driver and 2020 World Rally Championship winner, first Welshman to claim the WRC drivers' title in the sport's premier category.

Elfyn Rhys Evans was born on 28 December 1988 in Dolgellau, Wales, the son of Gwyndaf Evans, the 1996 British Rally Champion, whose family Ford dealership, first established by Elfyn's great-grandfather, has sponsored his career throughout. His own grandfather first put him behind the wheel of a car. Evans began competing at 18 in a Nissan Micra, and won the 2012 Junior WRC title before earning a full-time seat with M-Sport Ford in 2014, delivering an emotional breakthrough win on home soil at the 2017 Wales Rally GB, becoming just the fourth home driver to win the event, following in the footsteps of Roger Clark, Colin McRae, and Richard Burns. Evans moved to Toyota Gazoo Racing in 2020, and has become one of the most consistent challengers in the World Rally Championship, finishing runner-up in the drivers' championship on five occasions — in 2020, 2021, 2023, 2024, and 2025 — often losing out to teammate Sébastien Ogier in dramatic season-ending showdowns. Evans has earned 12 WRC wins and 48 podiums across his career, and continues to compete for Toyota, remaining one of the most respected and consistently competitive drivers never to have won the World Rally Championship title outright.
