New Zealand Formula 1 racing driver who won the 1967 World Drivers' Championship and was twice Can-Am Champion, known for his consistent driving style.

Denny Hulme was New Zealand's only Formula One World Champion, winning the title with Brabham in 1967 before moving to McLaren where he was a key figure in their early success. A no-nonsense New Zealander known as 'The Bear' for his tough and direct manner, Hulme's championship was somewhat unexpected but demonstrated his exceptional racecraft and consistency. Hulme's 1967 title with Brabham remains New Zealand's only Formula One drivers' championship, and he went on to become a key part of the Bruce McLaren-founded team before his death from a heart attack during the 1992 Bathurst 1000, still competing at 56.
