Alice Elizabeth Fraser Powell was born on 26 January 1993 in Oxford, England, and progressed through Ginetta Junior and Formula Renault categories before making history in 2010, becoming the first woman ever to win a Formula Renault championship, claiming the Formula Renault BARC title. Powell added a second Formula Renault title in the Asian series in 2014, and became the first woman to score points in the GP3 Series in 2012, establishing herself as one of the most accomplished female drivers in single-seater racing history, and was named a BRDC Rising Star and listed among the BBC's 100 Women in 2014. Powell was selected as one of the original 18 drivers for the inaugural W Series championship in 2019, finishing third in the standings with four podium finishes including a win at the Brands Hatch finale, and went on to finish runner-up in the championship in 2021.
