American golfer of Tongan/Samoan descent known for long drives, six PGA Tour wins, and multiple close major finishes.

Milton Pouha "Tony" Finau was born on 14 September 1989 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Kelepi Finau, who worked graveyard shifts for Delta Air Lines, and is of Tongan and Samoan descent, becoming the first and only golfer of that heritage to play on the PGA Tour. Tony's first sport was fire-knife dancing, a traditional Samoan ritual, and he practised golf swings in his family's garage using a mattress as a makeshift backstop. Finau won the Utah State Amateur Championship in 2006, and despite receiving a college basketball scholarship offer, turned professional in golf at just 17, competing on mini-tours including the Gateway Tour and NGA Hooters Tour before appearing alongside his brother Gipper on the Golf Channel's "The Big Break" in 2009. Finau won his first PGA Tour title at the 2016 Puerto Rico Open, and had to wait five years and 142 further starts before capturing his second, at the 2021 Northern Trust, going on to win six times on tour and represent the United States at multiple Ryder Cups. Finau has continued to be one of the most powerful and popular players on the PGA Tour, renowned for one of the shortest backswings in professional golf, and remains a trailblazing figure for Pacific Islander representation in the sport.
