Tom Latham is a New Zealand opening batsman and wicketkeeper who has captained the national Test team, known for his reliability at the top of the order.

Thomas William Maxwell Latham was born on 2 April 1992 in Christchurch, New Zealand, the son of Rod Latham, who represented New Zealand in Test and ODI cricket during the 1990s and also played rugby union for Canterbury. Latham represented New Zealand at the 2010 Under-19 Cricket World Cup before making his senior international debut in 2012, developing into a versatile player capable of opening the batting, keeping wicket, and batting throughout the order in white-ball cricket. Latham set a New Zealand Test record in December 2018, scoring an unbeaten 264 against Sri Lanka at the Basin Reserve, the highest score by any batter carrying his bat through a Test innings, and has scored the most Test centuries by a New Zealand opening batter in history. Latham was appointed New Zealand's permanent Test captain in 2024 following Tim Southee's resignation from the role, having been part of the squads that won the 2019-2021 ICC World Test Championship and finished runners-up at two Cricket World Cup finals, and continues to lead the national team with a calm, understated style.
