Kane Stuart Williamson was born in Tauranga, New Zealand in 1990. He made his international debut in 2010 and became New Zealand's most important batsman and subsequently his most decorated captain. He led New Zealand to consecutive ICC World Cup finals in 2019 and 2021 — losing the 2019 ODI World Cup Final to England on boundary countback in the most controversial conclusion to a major cricket tournament. He won the inaugural ICC World Test Championship Final against India in 2021 — New Zealand's first global ICC title.
