Thierry Neuville

Belgian rally driver who has been WRC championship runner-up five times and is one of the most successful drivers never to win a world title.

Thierry Jean Neuville was born on 16 June 1988 in St. Vith, Belgium, and began rallying in 2007, progressing through the Intercontinental Rally Challenge between 2009 and 2011 before joining the World Rally Championship full-time with Citroën Junior in 2012. Neuville moved to Hyundai Motorsport in 2014, winning his first WRC rally that year at Rallye Deutschland, and developed into one of the most consistent competitors in the championship's history, finishing runner-up in the drivers' standings on five separate occasions between 2013 and 2019 before finally breaking through. Neuville helped Hyundai win back-to-back manufacturers' championships in 2019 and 2020, and finally claimed his own long-awaited drivers' title in 2024, becoming the first Belgian driver ever to win the World Rally Championship after years of near-misses. Neuville has continued competing for Hyundai alongside co-driver Martijn Wydaeghe, and remains one of the most successful and respected drivers of his generation, his 2024 triumph capping over a decade of sustained excellence at the top level of world rallying.
