Tamim Iqbal is a Bangladeshi opening batsman regarded as one of the finest players his country has produced, holding numerous national batting records.

Tamim Iqbal Khan was born on 20 March 1989 in Chittagong, Bangladesh, into a cricketing family; his uncle, Akram Khan, and older brother, Nafees, both played Test cricket for Bangladesh, giving Tamim an early grounding in the sport. Tamim made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in 2007 and his Test debut against New Zealand the following year, developing into the finest opening batter in Bangladeshi cricket history and becoming the first Bangladeshi to score a century in all three international formats. Tamim captained Bangladesh across all formats at various points in his career, and became the country's leading run-scorer in both Test and ODI cricket, playing an instrumental role in some of Bangladesh's most significant victories, including series wins over England, South Africa, and New Zealand. Tamim retired from international cricket in 2023 after a 16-year career, and was appointed president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board's ad hoc committee in April 2026, transitioning into cricket administration and continuing to shape the sport in the country he represented for so long.

Tamim is an aggressive left-handed opening batsman known for his attacking approach and ability to dominate bowling attacks from the start of an innings.
