Stuart Hogg is an attacking fullback who became Scotland's most-capped player and all-time leading try scorer.

Stuart William Hogg was born on 24 June 1992 in Melrose, Scotland, and raised in nearby Hawick, a town renowned for its rugby tradition. His father, John, played full-back for Hawick RFC before becoming a referee, and his older brother Graham represented Scotland at sevens, immersing Stuart in the sport from an early age despite the family enduring earlier personal losses that shaped their close bond. Hogg attended Hawick High School and progressed through Scottish underage rugby before joining Glasgow Warriors' academy, turning professional at 19. His electrifying pace, elusive running, and attacking instincts from full-back quickly made him one of the most exciting players in European rugby, and he made his Scotland debut in 2012. Hogg was named the Six Nations Player of the Championship in both 2016 and 2017, becoming the first player to win the award twice, and went on to become Scotland's all-time leading try scorer and most-capped player. He captained Scotland and was selected for the British and Irish Lions on three tours, in 2013, 2017, and 2021. Hogg moved to Exeter Chiefs in 2019, winning the Premiership and Champions Cup double in his first season, before finishing his career with Montpellier in France. He retired from international rugby in 2023 having earned dozens of caps for Scotland across more than a decade at the top of the international game.
