Sebastian Korda was born on 5 July 2000 in Bradenton, Florida, to two former professional tennis players: his father, Petr Korda, was the 1998 Australian Open champion and a former world No. 2, while his mother, Regina Rajchrtová, reached a career-high ranking of world No. 26. Growing up around the sport, Korda began formal lessons relatively late in childhood before rapidly progressing through junior tournaments, winning the 2018 Australian Open boys' singles title. Korda turned professional in 2018 and developed into one of the tallest and most powerful servers on the ATP Tour, standing 1.96 metres. His breakthrough came at the 2020 French Open, where, as a qualifier, he reached the fourth round, defeating three seeded players including then-world No. 7 Matteo Berrettini.
