Roger Federer's agent Tony Godsick signed her as a junior talent. She defeated Venus Williams at Wimbledon in 2019 aged 15 — generating international attention for the manner of the occasion and her poise at courtside interviews immediately after. She became the youngest player to reach a Grand Slam singles final at the Australian Open in 2022 before losing to Iga Świątek.
