Jessica Pegula is an American professional tennis player who reached a career-high ranking of world No. 3 and multiple Grand Slam semifinals and finals.

Jessica Pegula was born on 24 February 1994 in Buffalo, New York, the daughter of Terry and Kim Pegula, the billionaire owners of the NFL's Buffalo Bills and NHL's Buffalo Sabres. Despite her family's wealth, Pegula has said her upbringing was relatively normal, laughing off rumours that she travels with a private chauffeur or butler. She began playing tennis at seven and turned professional in 2009. Pegula's rise through the WTA rankings was gradual — she has described herself as something of a "late bloomer" — before a breakthrough run to the quarter-finals of the 2021 Australian Open, defeating former world No. 5 Elina Svitolina, launched the most successful stretch of her career. She reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 3 in October 2022. Pegula became just the fourth woman in the Open Era to reach the finals of the Canadian Open, Cincinnati, and US Open all in the same season, in 2024, winning the Canadian title and finishing runner-up at the other two. In June 2022, her mother Kim suffered a cardiac arrest at the family home, receiving lifesaving CPR from one of Jessica's sisters; Kim has continued a lengthy recovery in the years since. Pegula has continued to represent the United States as one of its most consistent players, frequently sending supportive messages to her father's Buffalo Bills during her own tournament runs, embracing her identity as, in her family's words, their "favourite sports team."
