Sahith Reddy Theegala was born on 4 December 1997 in Orange, California, to parents of Indian descent, and developed into one of the finest amateur golfers in the country while attending Pepperdine University. Theegala swept the sport's three most prestigious college awards in 2020 — the Haskins Award, Ben Hogan Award, and Jack Nicklaus Award — becoming just the fifth player in history to win all three in the same season, before his final collegiate campaign was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic while Pepperdine's team was ranked first in the nation. Theegala turned professional in 2020 and won his first PGA Tour title in 2023, developing a reputation as one of the tour's most engaging young personalities, renowned for his relaxed demeanour and warm relationship with galleries.
