Robert Thomas was born on 2 July 1999 in Aurora, Ontario, Canada, and was trained for the first five years of his hockey career by his father, Scott, a chef by trade, before the St. Louis Blues selected him 20th overall in the 2017 NHL Draft. Thomas represented Canada at the 2015 World U-17 Hockey Challenge and the 2018 World Junior Championships, winning gold medals at both tournaments before establishing himself as a full-time NHL player at the highest level. Thomas became the youngest player on the Blues' roster to win the Stanley Cup in 2019, contributing to St. Louis's championship run in his rookie professional season, and developed steadily into one of the franchise's most important offensive centres. Thomas was named an alternate captain of the Blues, and has continued to be one of the team's most creative and productive playmakers, remaining a cornerstone of St. Louis's roster since his championship-winning rookie campaign nearly a decade ago.
