Bo Horvat

Bo Horvat is a Canadian centre who captained the Vancouver Canucks before being traded to the New York Islanders in 2023, reaching 300 career goals in 2025-26.

Bowie William Horvat was born on 5 April 1995 in London, Ontario, Canada, and grew up roughly 100 kilometres from Toronto, being driven into the city each weekend by a teammate's father to practise with the Toronto Red Wings minor hockey programme. Horvat starred for the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League, winning two J. Ross Robertson Cup titles and the Wayne Gretzky 99 Award as playoff MVP in 2013, the same year the Vancouver Canucks selected him ninth overall in the NHL Draft. Horvat became captain of the Canucks in 2019, leading the franchise until his trade to the New York Islanders in 2023, having represented Canada at multiple international tournaments throughout his junior and professional career. Horvat has continued to be one of the Islanders' most important offensive centres, serving as an alternate captain and remaining one of the most respected two-way forwards to have emerged from Ontario's rich junior hockey pipeline.

Horvat is a versatile two-way center known for his strong faceoff ability and reliable defensive play. He combines solid hockey IQ with good size and strength, making him effective in both offensive and defensive situations. His leadership qualities and work ethic have made him a dependable player in all game situations.
