Selected 75th overall in the 2013 NHL Draft, Pavel Buchnevich outgrew his modest draft position to become one of the most consistent top-six forwards in the modern NHL, developing into a cornerstone of the St. Louis Blues' offence after being traded from New York in 2021. The New York Rangers selected Buchnevich in the third round, 75th overall, of the 2013 NHL Draft, though he initially remained in Russia, moving to SKA Saint Petersburg before finally joining the Rangers organisation and making his NHL debut in 2016. Buchnevich developed into a productive top-six forward for the Rangers, playing on the team's top line alongside Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider, before being traded to the St. Louis Blues in the summer of 2021. Buchnevich has continued to be one of the Blues' most reliable offensive contributors, representing Russia internationally throughout his career and remaining one of the more accomplished Russian-born forwards to have transitioned successfully from the KHL to sustained NHL production at the highest level.
