The Playmaker — the heart of the Dallas Cowboys dynasty, whose tenacious route-running, physical ability and relentless will to compete made him one of the 1990s' defining players.
Michael Irvin was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1966. Dallas Cowboys selected him 11th overall in the 1988 NFL Draft from Miami. He became the centrepiece of the Cowboys dynasty, forming the Triplets alongside Emmitt Smith and Troy Aikman. He won three Super Bowl championships (XXVII, XXVIII, XXX) and recorded five consecutive 1,000-yard seasons from 1991 to 1995. His 111-catch, 1,603-yard season in 1995 was the finest individual receiving campaign in Cowboys franchise history. He was selected to five Pro Bowls and inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2007.
