Jason Robertson was born on 22 July 1999 in Arcadia, California, and moved with his family to Northville, Michigan, at ten to increase his opportunities in the sport, playing for the Little Caesars and Detroit Kings minor hockey programmes before being drafted by the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League. Robertson set a Frontenacs rookie scoring record and became the first player for the club to record back-to-back 40-goal seasons since Michael Zigomanis, and the Dallas Stars selected him in the second round, 39th overall, of the 2017 NHL Draft. Robertson made the Stars' opening night roster and finished as a Calder Memorial Trophy finalist for Rookie of the Year, developing rapidly into one of the league's most efficient goal-scorers. Robertson has continued to be one of Dallas's most productive offensive players, representing the United States internationally and remaining one of the most consistently prolific scorers to emerge from California's growing hockey pipeline.
