Igor Shesterkin

Igor Shesterkin is a Russian goaltender for the New York Rangers who won the Vezina Trophy in 2022.

Igor Olegovich Shestyorkin, commonly known as Shesterkin, was born on 30 December 1995 in Moscow, Russia, and developed his game with SKA Saint Petersburg and Spartak Moscow before the New York Rangers selected him in the fourth round, 118th overall, of the 2014 NHL Draft, a relatively low selection for a future star. Shesterkin continued playing in the KHL for several seasons after being drafted, refining his technique and positioning before finally joining the Rangers organisation, where he quickly established himself as one of the league's premier young goaltenders. Shesterkin won the Vezina Trophy as the league's top goaltender, delivering some of the most statistically dominant single-season performances by a netminder in recent NHL history, backstopping the Rangers to deep and memorable playoff runs. Shesterkin has continued to anchor the Rangers' crease, representing Russia internationally when eligible, and remains one of the most technically gifted and highly regarded goaltenders currently playing anywhere in the league today.

Shesterkin is known for his exceptional athleticism, quick reflexes, and aggressive style in net.
