Australian motorcycle racer and three-time World Superbike Champion, known for his aggressive riding style and success with Ducati in both WSBK and MotoGP.

Troy Andrew Bayliss was born on 30 March 1969 in Taree, New South Wales, Australia, and grew up largely in the nearby town of Warialda, where his father worked as a baker and his mother drove a school bus. He was an accomplished motocross rider by ten, though his enthusiasm for racing waned in his teens as he trained as a spraypainter. Bayliss returned to motorcycle racing and developed into one of the most successful riders in Superbike World Championship history, winning three titles — in 2001, 2006, and 2008 — all with Ducati, finishing his career with 52 race wins, the fourth-highest total in the championship at the time of his retirement. Bayliss also competed in MotoGP, winning a race for Ducati during the manufacturer's early years in the premier class, before returning to World Superbike to close out his career, winning his final championship in 2008 before retiring from full-time competition. Bayliss's son, Oli, has followed him into professional racing, competing in the World Supersport Championship, continuing a family motorsport legacy that began with Troy's own rise from an outback Australian upbringing to the top of world superbike racing.
