Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr. was born on 3 August 1977 in San Mateo, California, the only son of Thomas Sr. and Galynn Brady, and starred at Junípero Serra High School before playing college football at Michigan, where he had to earn the starting job as a sixth-string quarterback. The New England Patriots selected Brady in the sixth round, 199th overall, of the 2000 NFL Draft, one of the most consequential late selections in sports history, and he took over as starter in 2001 after an injury to Drew Bledsoe, immediately winning his first Super Bowl. Brady led the Patriots to six Super Bowl championships across two decades, including a perfect 16-0 regular season in 2007, before joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020 and winning a seventh Super Bowl title in his very first season with the team. Brady retired in 2023 holding nearly every major career passing record, including most passing yards, touchdowns, and completions, and was named to two All-Decade Teams along with the NFL's 100th Anniversary All-Time Team. He has since become a broadcaster for Fox Sports, widely regarded as the greatest quarterback, and by many measures the greatest player, in NFL history.
