Terry McLaurin was born on 15 September 1995 in Indianapolis, Indiana, and won the state's Mr. Football Award in 2013 while starring at Cathedral High School, before playing college football at Ohio State, where he helped the Buckeyes win the 2015 College Football Playoff National Championship. The Washington Redskins (later renamed the Commanders) selected McLaurin in the third round, 76th overall, of the 2019 NFL Draft, and he was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team after a standout debut season. McLaurin, nicknamed "Scary Terry," developed into one of the league's most consistent receivers despite frequently unstable quarterback situations in Washington, earning Pro Bowl selections in both 2022 and 2024, and setting a franchise record for touchdown catches in a season with 13 in 2024, a campaign that also earned him second-team All-Pro honours.
