Sung Hyun Park is a South Korean professional golfer who won two LPGA majors and became the first LPGA rookie to reach World No. 1, in her breakout 2017 season.
Sung Hyun Park won her very first LPGA Tour start in 2017 and it was a major — the U.S. Women's Open at Trump National Bedminster — making her the first player in nearly four decades to sweep the Rookie of the Year, Player of the Year, and season money title, while also becoming the first rookie ever to reach World No. 1 in the Rolex Rankings. She built her game quietly on the LPGA of Korea Tour, winning her first title at the 2015 Korea Women's Open before an explosive 2016 season in which she won six times and topped the tour's money list. Park graduated to the U.S.-based LPGA Tour in 2017 and delivered one of the great rookie seasons in the sport's history: she won her first LPGA start, and it was a major, capturing the U.S. Women's Open at Trump National in Bedminster. That victory helped her sweep the LPGA Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year awards and the season money title — the first player to win all three in nearly four decades — while also becoming the first rookie ever to reach World No. 1 in the Rolex Rankings. Park added a second major title at the 2018 Women's PGA Championship, reclaiming the World No. 1 ranking that year and finishing third on the season money list. Known for her prodigious length off the tee, she has won seven LPGA Tour titles to go with 10 wins on the LPGA of Korea Tour, and was honoured with the ESPY Award for Best Female Golfer in 2018.
