Sergio Llull holds the EuroLeague's all-time records for both games played and three-pointers made, won three European titles with Real Madrid, and declined NBA draft invitations to stay at the club where he became team captain — a decision that shaped him into the most decorated European club player of his generation.. He began his professional career with Manresa in 2005 before signing with Real Madrid in 2007, where he has remained for his entire career, eventually becoming the club's all-time leading scorer and team captain. Llull developed into one of European basketball's most clutch performers, winning three EuroLeague titles with Real Madrid in 2015, 2018, and 2023, and was named EuroLeague MVP in 2017 after leading the competition in scoring during crucial moments. He has been selected to the All-EuroLeague First and Second Teams and holds the EuroLeague's all-time records for both games played and three-pointers made. Internationally, Llull has been a mainstay of Spain's national team since the late 2000s, winning EuroBasket gold in 2009, 2011, and 2015, and the 2019 FIBA World Cup title. He also won an Olympic silver medal at London 2012 and a bronze at Rio 2016. Despite being drafted by the Denver Nuggets in 2009, Llull chose to remain in Europe throughout his career, becoming one of the most decorated players never to appear in the NBA, and continues to captain Real Madrid into his late thirties.
