Seimone Delicia Augustus was born on 30 April 1984 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the daughter of Seymore and Kim Augustus, and starred at Capitol High School before staying home to play at LSU, where she became one of the most decorated players in program history. The Minnesota Lynx selected Augustus first overall in the 2006 WNBA Draft, and she developed into one of the most dominant scorers of her generation, renowned for a smooth mid-range game and reliable perimeter shot that made her a nightmare matchup for defenders throughout her prime. Augustus won four WNBA championships with the Lynx during the franchise's dynastic run in the early-to-mid 2010s, and represented the United States at multiple Olympic Games, winning gold medals as part of the American team's sustained international dominance. She also played extensively overseas in Russia and Turkey during WNBA offseasons. Augustus retired in 2020 with her No. 33 jersey retired by both the Minnesota Lynx and LSU, and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2024. She moved directly into coaching, serving as an assistant with the Los Angeles Sparks before returning to her alma mater, LSU, as an assistant coach in 2024.
