Sergio García was born in Spain and began playing golf at three years old, taught by his father, a club professional, developing rapidly into one of the most naturally gifted talents the sport has seen and making the cut in a European Tour event at just 15. García won his first professional tournament at 17, and went on to become one of the most popular and passionate players on the European Tour, known for his fiery emotion on the course and a rivalry with Tiger Woods that captivated golf fans throughout the 2000s. García finally captured his elusive first major championship at the 2017 Masters, defeating Justin Rose with a birdie on the first playoff hole in his 74th career major start, a breakthrough that had eluded him for nearly two decades of near-misses at golf's biggest events. García has spent 379 weeks inside the world's top ten across his career, and won the Andalucía Valderrama Masters, hosted by his own foundation, three consecutive times.
