Sebastian Aho is a Finnish forward and captain of the Carolina Hurricanes, one of the league's top offensive centres.
Sebastian Antero Aho was born on 26 July 1997 in Rauma, Finland, and made his professional debut with Oulun Kärpät during the 2013-14 Liiga season, scoring the game-winning goal in overtime of Game Seven of the 2015 finals to win the Finnish championship for his club at just 17. The Carolina Hurricanes selected Aho in the second round, 35th overall, of the 2015 NHL Draft, and he made his NHL debut during the 2016-17 season, quickly establishing himself as one of the league's most skilled offensive forwards. Aho developed into Carolina's franchise centrepiece, becoming an alternate captain and one of the most consistently productive scorers in the league, signing a lucrative contract extension that reflected his status as one of the Hurricanes' most important players over the past decade. Aho has continued to represent Finland internationally and remains one of Carolina's most vital offensive contributors, having spent his entire NHL career with the franchise that drafted him out of Finland's top domestic league.
