Patrik Laine

Patrik Laine is a Finnish left wing renowned for one of the hardest and most accurate shots in the NHL, bursting onto the scene with the Winnipeg Jets before moves to Columbus and Montreal.

Patrik Laine was born on 19 April 1998 in Tampere, Finland, and began playing hockey at four years old as a goaltender before switching permanently to forward on his father's advice, eventually leaving school at 16 to focus on hockey full-time. Laine made his Liiga debut with Tappara at 16, and the Winnipeg Jets selected him second overall in the 2016 NHL Draft, immediately establishing himself as one of the league's most prolific pure goal-scorers at a young age. Laine scored 44 goals in his sophomore NHL season, one of the highest single-season totals by a teenager in league history, and represented Finland at multiple World Junior Championships, winning gold in 2016 with the national team. Laine was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets and later the Montreal Canadiens, continuing his career as one of the most dangerous shooters in the modern game, renowned throughout his career for his one-timer and his colourful, fashion-forward personality off the ice.
