Mikko Rantanen

Mikko Rantanen is a Finnish right wing who became one of the NHL's top scorers with the Colorado Avalanche, helping the team win the Stanley Cup in 2022.

Mikko Rantanen was born on 29 October 1996 in Nousiainen, Finland, and the Colorado Avalanche selected him tenth overall in the 2015 NHL Draft, making his NHL debut that same year after honing his game with TPS in Finland's top domestic league. Rantanen developed into one of the most dominant power forwards in the league, using his rare combination of size and skill to become a key member of the Avalanche's core alongside Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar throughout the franchise's most successful period. Rantanen helped Colorado win the Stanley Cup in 2022, delivering some of the most productive playoff performances of that postseason, before being traded to the Carolina Hurricanes and later the Dallas Stars. Rantanen has continued to represent Finland internationally throughout his career, and remains one of the most physically dominant and productive wingers in the modern NHL, renowned for his ability to protect the puck along the boards from opponents.

Rantanen is known for his exceptional vision, playmaking ability, and accurate shot from the right wing position. He combines excellent size and reach with soft hands and hockey intelligence, making him effective both as a scorer and distributor.
