Scott Brown was born on 25 June 1985 in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland, and grew up in the nearby village of Hill of Beath, attending Hill of Beath Primary School and Beath High School. In May 2008, his younger sister Fiona died of skin cancer at just 21 years old, a loss Brown has described as one of the most painful moments of his life, occurring in the midst of his rising football career. Brown began his career with Hibernian, breaking into the first team in 2002 and winning the SFWA Young Player of the Year award in 2007, the same year he helped the club win the Scottish League Cup. His combative, high-energy midfield play made him a target for Celtic, who signed him that summer for £4.4 million — a record transfer fee between two Scottish clubs at the time. Brown spent 14 years at Celtic, captaining the club for 11 of them and becoming one of the most successful and influential players in the club's modern history. He won ten Scottish league championships, including nine in a row, along with six Scottish Cups and six League Cups, cementing his status as a Celtic icon renowned for his tenacious tackling and leadership. Brown earned 55 caps for Scotland across various age levels and the senior side, captaining his country on numerous occasions. After a brief spell at Aberdeen as player and assistant manager in 2021, he moved into management himself, taking charge of Fleetwood Town before later managing Ayr United.
