Mohammed Shami was born on 3 September 1990 in Sahaspur, Uttar Pradesh, India. He made his Test debut in 2013 and has become one of India's most important fast bowlers. Known for his ability to move the ball in both directions at pace, Shami is particularly devastating with the older ball. He took 7/57 on debut and has been a key component of India's Test and ODI attack, regularly in the top 10 Test bowlers. He was outstanding in India's 2023 ODI World Cup campaign, taking 24 wickets in the tournament. Injury has occasionally disrupted his availability.
