Mohammad Yousuf

Mohammad Yousuf was a Pakistani batter, formerly known as Yousuf Youhana, who set a world record with nine Test centuries in the 2006 calendar year.

In 2006, Mohammad Yousuf scored 1,788 Test runs in a single calendar year, setting a world record that stood for over a decade and confirming him as the most prolific middle-order batter of his generation. Yousuf converted to Islam in 2005, changing his name from Yousuf Youhana, and experienced a remarkable rise in form following his conversion, setting the record for most runs scored by a batter in a calendar year in Test cricket, with 1,788 runs in 2006, a record that stood for over a decade. Yousuf scored 24 Test centuries and 15 ODI centuries across his international career, and captained Pakistan in both formats, becoming renowned for an elegant, wristy batting style that made him one of the most aesthetically pleasing players of his generation to watch. Yousuf retired from international cricket in 2010, having also played county cricket for Lancashire and Warwickshire, and moved into coaching roles with the Pakistan national team, remaining one of the most celebrated middle-order batters the country has produced.
