Mike Singletary was born in Houston, Texas in 1958. The Bears selected him 38th overall in 1981. He was the defensive leader of the 1985 Chicago Bears — the most dominant defensive team in NFL history. He was named Defensive Player of the Year twice. His intensity — glaring at opponents, the pre-snap focus — became one of the sport's most imitated personal styles. He later coached the San Francisco 49ers.
