Matthew Hudson-Smith was born on 26 October 1994 in Wolverhampton, England, and progressed through Birchfield Harriers to become one of the finest 400 metres runners in history, representing Great Britain internationally from his early twenties across multiple major championships. Hudson-Smith won multiple British and European titles across his career, and delivered the finest performance of his life at the 2024 Paris Olympics, clocking 43.44 seconds to win silver and set both the British and European records, becoming the fifth-fastest 400m runner ever recorded. Hudson-Smith was ranked the world's number one 400m runner in September 2024, and has continued to compete at the highest level, also anchoring Great Britain's 4x400m relay team to major championship medals including an Olympic bronze.
