Alexis Noel Thompson was born on 10 February 1995 in Coral Springs, Florida, and became a golfing prodigy at a young age, qualifying for the U.S. Women's Open at just 12 years old in 2007, at the time the youngest golfer ever to do so. Thompson helped the United States win the 2010 Curtis Cup before turning professional later that year at 15, and set a record in September 2011 as the youngest-ever winner of an LPGA Tour event. Thompson won her first major championship at the 2014 Kraft Nabisco Championship, and captured the LPGA Vare Trophy for lowest scoring average and the Race to the CME Globe title in 2017, a career-best season that also earned her Golf Writers Association of America Female Player of the Year honours. Thompson has represented the United States at seven Solheim Cups, winning the competition on three occasions, and has continued to compete at the highest level of women's golf for over a decade, remaining one of the sport's most powerful and popular drivers of the golf ball since her teenage breakthrough.
